Kia Motors will soon launch the Sonet X-Line, a sporty top-0f-the-line trim for its hot selling sub-4 meter compact SUV. A teaser for the Sonet X-Line has been released in the run up to launch. Here, check it out.

As the teaser indicates, the Sonet X-Line’s launch is just around the corner. Like its bigger sibling – the Seltos – that also gets a X-Line trim, the Sonet X-Line is expected to get a Matte Graphite paint scheme, black chrome exterior trims, gloss black wing mirrors, and red accents on the bumpers, faux skid plates and wheels. The dark theme will be carried over to the interiors as well.

As for engines, the Kia Sonet X-Line is likely to be offered with the 1 liter turbo petrol and 1.5 liter turbo diesel units. The 1 liter turbo petrol engine is a 3 cylinder unit that puts out 118 Bhp-172 Nm. A 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox will accompany this engine in the Sonet X-Line. As for the diesel engine, the 1.5 liter motor is a 4 cylinder unit and puts out 115 Bhp-250 Nm. This engine will be paired to a 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox on the Sonet X-Line.

Notably, these engine-gearbox combinations are on offer in the GT Line trim of the Sonet as well. Punchy performance is the characteristic of both engines. While the twin clutch automatic gearbox on the petrol engine delivers quick gearshifts, the torque converter automatic gearbox on the diesel motor is known for its smooth and refined gear shifting.

In terms of equipment, the Kia Sonet X-Line is expected to feature the same spec as the GT Line models. Key features on the Sonet X-Line will include 6 airbags, ABS, traction control, hill hold, twin zone automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment unit with Bose stereo and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car features, multiple drive modes, steering mounted controls, cruise control, keyless entry, semi-digital instrument cluster, air purifier, ventilated front seats, auto folding wing mirrors, rear AC vents, art leather seats and an electric sunroof.

The Sonet has been one of Kia Motors’ best selling cars in India, and prices start from Rs. 7.49 lakh ex-showroom. The Sonet X-Line, which will sit at the very top of the compact SUV’s variant line-up is expected to be priced at Rs. 14 lakh for the diesel trim and Rs. 13.5 lakh for the petrol trim. The Sonet X-Line will rival the upcoming Hyundai Venue N-Line. Other competitors of the Sonet include the Tata Nexon, the recently launched Maruti Brezza, the Mahindra XUV300, the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger.
